What we did
On 27-29 September 2024, we held our Big Green Eco Weekend at St Peter’s offering eco-friendly tips and fun green events for all ages.
On Friday, we enjoyed a bioblitz with Year 3 from Ightham Primary School, finding a variety of plants and animals living in the churchyard and then welcomed a number of families and villagers to take part in the evening bat walk.
On Saturday, the Parish Council organised a litter pick round the village and Ightham Cubs joined us to make bird boxes and bird feeders. In the afternoon, Robert Mitchell gave a fascinating walk and talk about farming apples on Warren Farm.
On Sunday, there was a Green-themed United Benefice Holy Communion service at St George’s Church, Wrotham with a Fair Trade stall and an afternoon of activities at Manor Farm provided by Ightham Wood Products including woodland walks, coppicing and other demonstrations.
